“Most health experts say children learn by example. When they see adults taking care of their health, children will do the same thing,” says Councilwoman Mary C. Woolridge (D) 3. “We have a way for families to learn how to be healthy, have fun and stay that way.”
Once again, Woolridge and Better Life Inc. are sponsoring the St. George Health and Fun Fair on Saturday, September 2nd, 2006.
The health fair will be located at 26th and Oak Streets at the St. George Center.
“We will offer tests for blood pressure and information on diabetes, cancer, lupus and lung and heart disease,” says Woolridge, who is chairperson of the Metro Council’s Health and Human Services Committee.
While various groups will have booths at the health and fun fair, there will also be information services provided with the Drug Awareness Car, fire safety and prevention of child abuse.
“While health care is a serious thing, we also have some fun activities for children and their parents,” says Woolridge.
The event will also have music, free ice cream, petting animals and Asto Jump, face painting, cake walk along with children games.
Screening and family activities are free.
