Louisville – With winter just around the corner, flu season is not to far away. Some may not be ready for either but there is one way to be prepared for both.
“I hope the District 12 Health Fair will give every one a chance to get a flu shot or asks some prevention questions if they need to,” says Councilman Rick Blackwell (D) 12.
The Beechland Baptist Church will be the location of the District 12 Health Fair set for November 30th from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
“We have many health groups and agencies on hand to handle a wide range of questions as well as provide needed check ups or advice,” says Blackwell.
The Visiting Nurses Association will offer flu shots for $30 per shot and pneumonia shots for $40. There are no appointments necessary for the shots. The VNA will file Medicare Part B if Medicare is the primary insurance.
The Health Fair will also provide breast cancer screenings for women ages 40 years and over. The screenings will be free to income eligible women without insurance. Insurance can be filed for women with coverage.
“While flu shots are important, many of us on the council have focused a great deal of attention on breast cancer screenings,” says Blackwell. “Prevention can go a long way in fighting breast cancer.”
For breast cancer screening appointments call 574-1112. Walk-ins are welcome and appointments will be honored first.
There will also be glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure screenings as well as general information about weight diet and exercise.
The Beechland Baptist Church is located at 4613 Greenwood Road.
