LMPD Enforces Illegal Dumping in Metro Parks

Tuesday February 3, 2009

LMPD plans increased patrols in Metro Parks due to recent reports of illegal dumping of storm debris within Metro Parks. Residents are urged to utilize the free storm debris dropoff sites opening tomorrow, as well as the curbside debris collection which begins next week.

LMPD would like to remind citizens that suspects caught illegally dumping storm debris can be arrested and fined. Anyone observing illegal dumping in Metro Parks or anywhere throughout Louisville Metro may report the activity to 574-LMPD (5673).

In addition, please remember the free storm debris dropoff sites will be open from 9 am to 5 pm, Tuesday through Saturday at the following locations:

  • Hubbards Lane Public Works Facility - 595 Hubbards Lane
  • Meriwether Public Works Facility - 600 Meriwether Avenue
  • Behind the Southwest Government Center - 7219 Dixie Highway (enter off Saffron Drive)

The dropoff sites are open to private citizens only; no businesses or contractors. Building materials (i.e. shingles, fencing or siding) will not be accepted.
