For many, now is the time to start thinking about the cold and flu season with November just around the corner and colder temperatures setting in. Residents in District 12 will get a chance to stay ahead of the game when it comes to prevention.
"The District 12 Health Fair is an opportunity to get a flu shot if you need it and health professionals will be on hand to offer helpful information for a healthier lifestyle," says Metro Council President Rick Blackwell.(D) 12.
The Beechland Baptist Church, 4613 Greenwood Road is hosting the Health Fair from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm on Thursday, November 1st.
The event will offer screenings for blood pressure and breast cancer. Some of the screenings will be done on a first come first serve basis; but the breast cancer screenings do require an appointment. To sign up, simply call 574-1112.
Life Line Screenings will be on hand to set appointments for screenings to check for stroke and abdominal aortic aneurysm and peripheral arterial disease screenings. For more information about that service call 894-9228.
While the Health Fair is underway, District 12 will also offer a Will Clinic in cooperation with the Louisville Legal Aid Society.
"We know there may be some senior citizens who may need help in preparing a Last Will and Testament as well as and other life planning documents such as power of attorney and Health Care Surrogate but can not afford an attorney," says Blackwell. "This clinic will offer help to those documents in order.”
For more information about the District 12 Health Clinic, call President Blackwell’s office at 574-1112.
