Health and Human Services Committee to hear update on AIDS/HIV in Jefferson County

Louisville – The Metro Council’s Health and Human Services Committee will receive an update on AIDS/HIV cases in Jefferson County when it meets on Wednesday November 29th.

Dr. Adewale Troutman, Director of the Metro Louisville Health Department will address the committee on the latest information about AIDS/HIV cases in the area. He will also talk about programs for those affected by the disease.

December 1st is Worldwide AIDS Awareness Day.

The committee will also review technical changes needed for the smoking ban ordinance. The changes will clarify the definition of government buildings owned an operated by Metro Government.

A new state law allows no smoking in government buildings. The local government now has the authority to ban smoking in buildings it operates.

The committee meeting begins at 3:00pm in Council Chambers, 601 West Jefferson Street.
