Once again, the Newburg Youth Council along with hundreds of volunteers will roll up their sleeves, grab some trash bags and make their neighborhood a better place to live on Saturday, March 28th.

“I look forward to this event every year because it’s a time when young people and residents of our area come together working side by side to make a difference,” says Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2). “And we have some fun too.”

Volunteers will meet at the Community Missionary Baptist Church, 4909 East Indian Trail. Krispy Kreme will provide doughnuts for volunteers beginning at 7:30am. The Clean up will get underway at 8:00 am and last until 12:00 pm. Lunch will be served after the clean up..

Residents of the area will have a chance to take advantage of a special event as part of the cleanup effort.

“We will be offering a Health & Wellness Fair for residents in the area,” says Shanklin. “So if you want to find out how to “clean up” your health lifestyle, then come on out to the Church.”

The Health & Wellness Fair will feature blood pressure check, breast and prostate cancer information, diabetes care information and much more. The Health Fair is free.

Joining Shanklin and the Newburg Youth Council in sponsoring the cleanup are the Newburg Re-Investment Neighborhood Group, TARC and Brightside.
