Anyone who has ever dropped off or picked up a student at Fairdale Elementary, or slowed down for the stop signs and flashing yellow lights at Fairdale Road and Mitchell Hill, or wondered when the traffic congestion would ever improve during rush hour; then you should go to a very special meeting.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and Louisville Metro Government want your input on the best ways to correct the driving conditions on Fairdale Road, Mitchell Hill Road, West Manslick and Mount Holly Roads.

“Those four roads all meet in what is best described as a dog legged intersection,” says Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13). “State and local officials will host a special meeting to let everyone know what options are available to make sure these four roads are more effective in handling the traffic of a growing area.”

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 13th from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Fairdale High School, 1001 Fairdale Road.

The event is a chance to present the public with the latest plans for the intersection project. There will be handouts with information and state and local officials will be on hand to not only answer questions about the project, but they will listen to any comments residents of the area have with regard to improving the intersection.

“This is an important meeting because officials are in the planning and design stage of this project,” says Welch. “This is your chance to add your input and ideas to what will soon be the most vital change to downtown Fairdale."

. It is also an opportunity to let officials know that improving this intersection should be a top priority for the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Metro Louisville.”

The Kentucky DOT will also take written comment after the public meeting. Anyone who wishes to make written comments can send them to:
