One of Metro Louisville’s oldest cities is getting ready to bring in the holiday with three special events that focus on lights, trees and Santa.
“The people of Shively have always maintained wonderful holiday traditions,” says Councilwoman Mary C. Woolridge (D) 3, who represents the area. “This year is no different and I hope everyone will take advantage of the fun the city has planned.”
On Tuesday, November 27th the 14th Annual Light up Shively will kick off at 7:00pm. Woolridge will join Mayor Sherry Connors and Shively Council Members as Shively City Hall is transformed into a winter wonderland of bright lights and holiday cheer.
The Butler Traditional High School Chorus will perform the sounds of the season. Mr. & Mrs. Claus will join in on the tradition and refreshments for those who join the celebration.
“Then we have two very special events coming up for Saturday, December 1st that we would love to see supported this year,” says Woolridge.
From 9:00am to 4:00pm, the 24th Annual Festival of Trees will get underway at Butler High School. There will also be an arts and craft show. Butler High School is located at 2222 Crums Lane.
Santa will also make a return visit to Shively City Hall on Saturday, December 1st for breakfast with area children. The event gets underway from 9:00 to 11:00am and is sponsored by the Shively Lions Club.
“It will be a fun holiday season in Shively this year,” says Woolridge.
