Louisville -- It's the largest youth-in-government program in the nation, with over 6,000 middle and high school participants across Kentucky.
This evening, Thursday November 30th, Mayor Jerry Abramson and Councilman David Tandy (D) 4 will address the opening session of the 62nd Annual Kentucky Youth Assembly at 5:15 in the ballroom of the Executive West Hotel, 830 Phillips Lane.
The Kentucky Youth Assembly provides students with hands on experience and direct connection to our government. Earlier, this year Mayor Abramson, Councilman Tandy and Stuart Benson worked with the Kentucky YMCA to launch the Louisville Metro Youth Leaders Program, which focuses on the local government.
The second year of that program will take place in the Spring of 2007.
The Kentucky YMCA Youth Association has a unique and single-minded purpose: to serve and engage Kentucky's young people through Teen Service Student YMCAs, Peer Mentoring Programs, Youth & Government Conferences, Character Development Camps, United Nations Assemblies, and Service Mission Trips.
