Councilwoman Woolridge invites everyone to have fun at Shively Fest this weekend

On the last weekend in June, the City of Shively will continue what has become a tradition. Shively Fest 2008 gets underway with fun and entertainment at 6:00pm on Friday, June 27th.
“Shively Fest is a great opportunity to get out, meet people and see one of Metro Louisville oldest cities,” says Councilwoman Mary C. Woolridge (D) 3. “Its summer time and the people of Shively have once again planned a fun-filled weekend for everyone.”
The 2008 Shively Fest kicks off with a Karaoke Contest at 6:00pm sponsored by Councilwoman Woolridge. Judging for the contest which awards prizes to the best singer will begin at 7:00pm.
Friday night events also feature a Blind Draw Horseshoes Amateur Tournament. It is an event for two man teams that feature double elimination and barnyard scoring. The tournament is sponsored by the Marydale Men’s Club.
On Saturday, June 28th the Shively Lions Club and Shively Area ministries will host a Pancake Breakfast beginning at 11:00am at Shively City Hall.
“I want to encourage everyone to come out and help these two organizations,” says Woolridge. “It is a delicious breakfast and all proceeds will assist two dedicated organizations continue to help those in need in our community.”
Saturday will also feature a Cake and Dessert Bake off, the Louisville Poker Tournament and a Corn-hole Tournament;
Live music and entertainment will be provided by the group “Stranded”. Vendor booths and rides for children will be open on both Friday and Saturday. Shively Fest will conclude on Saturday night with “Fireworks by Melrose at Dark”.
All events are located in and around Shively City Hall, 3920 Dixie Highway.
