On July 10th, the Fairdale Little League made history. The Girls 16 and under softball team beat Barren County to bring home the Western Kentucky Babe Ruth Softball Championship.
Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13) is encouraging the community to come out for a special team parade to show appreciation on Saturday, July 16th.
“We are so proud of these young athletes,” says Welch. “The community needs to let them know we honor their hard work and dedication in bringing home this Championship title.”
The team will be the special guests of honor for a parade beginning at 10:00am at Hornbeck Park. Escorted by the Fairdale Fire Department, the State Champs will be driven through the Tin Dor Neighborhood then on to Mt. Holly then Glengarry and finally back home to the ball park at Hornbeck Park.
“This is truly an amazing group of young girls,” says Little League President and Coach Mike Robinson. “They worked hard and more than half the team had not played softball until two years ago. I am so proud.”
“This is another great achievement by young people in our community,” says Welch. “We should line the streets cheering how they have represented us.”
