Louisville – Council President Jim King (D-10) joined volunteers on Friday morning to bring some additional beauty to a busy area of Bardstown Road and the Watterson Expressway. The President is partnering with Brightside to create a new Brightsite in District 10.
“All of us can appreciate the beauty of flowers and other plants. Over the years, we have seen how projects such as this have changed what would otherwise be a view of blacktop and concrete cityscape,” said King.
The President is funding the Brightsite with District 10 Neighborhood Development Funds. He joined volunteers of the Bashford Manor Neighborhood Association and area businesses in the planting of knockout out roses, Shasta daisies, cone flowers, yarrow, iris and daisies and well as various annuals on the southwest side of the off ramp of the Watterson Expressway at Bardstown Road.
“One of my priorities on the Council is to review the streetscapes of many of our urban areas,” said King. “Bardstown Road has unique appearance from downtown to the Watterson and this Brightsite helps in enhance that appearance."
