Louisville – Anyone who travels down Standard Avenue between 22nd Street to Cypress Street is now aware of a neighborhood watching out for crime.
“The residents of Standard Avenue are providing us with another set of eyes and ears in our efforts to make our community safe,” says Councilwoman Mary C. Woolridge (D) 3. “I am happy to help them in that goal.”
At the end of November, eight new warning signs were strategically placed by the Standard Avenue Block Watch Club. Those signs serve as a reminder that this area is on the look out for anything unusual in this neighborhood.
Woolridge provided the money needed for the signs.
“Since 2000, the Standard Avenue Block Watch Club has been keeping an eye on its neighbors and their homes,” says Woolridge. “Block Watch Clubs like this have provided assistance to the police and we should thank them for their efforts. But this also shows the pride these folks have in their neighborhood.”
Woolridge will deliver a personal thank you at the Standard Avenue Block Watch Club’s annual Christmas dinner in December.
