This Friday, Councilwoman Judith Green (D-1) along with fifth graders in Metro Louisville will join other schools across country and participate in National Constitution Day. The educational event is an effort to continue the focus on one of the most important documents in the history of the United States of America.
“I look forward to this special occasion every year,” says Green. “National Constitution Day is a chance for those of us in public service to help students understand the significance of our Constitution and its importance to our way of life.”
Green will visit all seven elementary schools in District 1 to talk with fifth grade students about the US Constitution. Those schools include: Brandeis Elementary School, Byck Elementary School, Carter Traditional School, Crums Lane Elementary, Foster Academy, John F. Kennedy Montessori Elementary School and Wellington Elementary School.
Fifth graders who attend an assembly with the Councilwoman will receive their own copy of the Constitution.
“It is important that a new generation of Americans understand not only the history of our Constitution but the impact it has on our lives every day,” says Green.
