Councilwoman Judith Green (D-1) will join a host of special guests and volunteers on Sunday, August 29th for the official “Open House” of the Sister Visitor Center on Market Street to continue its work for the needy and disadvantaged in the area.
“I am honored to be with so many dedicated people who through the Sister Visitor Center give a helping hand to many in our community who need it from time to time,” says Green.
The Open House will be held between 2:00pm to 5:00pm. Archbishop Joseph Kurtz will be here and offer a special prayer and blessing on the renovated and new bldg. beginning at 2:30PM. Special recognition will be given to Mr. Paul Hornung who initiated and raised the majority of the funding for the renovation and new building.
The Center offers services for the poor and needy in the Russell, Shawnee and Portland neighborhood. The newly remodeled Center has energy saving features and more room for the clothing area and food pantry.
“Truly, we are fortunate that the Sister Visitor Center is back and running at its original location,” says Green. “It is my hope the community will support the good work of this Center and Catholic Charities as they extend a helping hand to those who need it.”
The Sister Visitor Center is located at 2235 West Market Street.
