Louisville – This weekend the city’s newest green space, Emerson Gardens Park, will take center stage with a neighborhood celebration with a grand opening and an opportunity to learn more about the MUSCL Senior Wellness Center in Schnitzelburg.

“Everyone is invited to join us on Sunday afternoon for some fun and music and help us dedicate a new special place in Schnitzelburg to enjoy,” says Council President Jim King (D-10).

On Sunday, President King will officially dedicate the new Emerson Gardens Park. The ceremony will be a chance for residents to see a new gazebo for concerts, enjoy a new playground and walking trail and take time to sit back or exercise in the city’s newest green space.

Beginning at 3:00pm, Emerson Garden Park will kick off the fun with a neighborhood street party featuring local artists, food, a Health Fair, children’s activities and more. The MUSCL Senior Wellness Center will be on hand with information about health and exercise programs. It is located adjacent to the new park. Any proceeds from concessions will benefit the Center.

The President will cut the ribbon to dedicate the park at 5:00pm at the Gazebo Stage. Then at 5:00pm local musicians, John Gage, Mickey Clark and Pat Younger and the Paloverde will provide an evening of music until 9:00pm.

“If you have never been to Schnitzelburg, please come and join us for an old fashioned neighborhood party,” says King. “While Emerson Gardens Park is located in this neighborhood, let it be available to all who want a beautiful space to sit back and relax.”
