Councilwoman Judith Green (D) 1 will host the Cane Run Road Community Festival on Saturday, August 2nd from 1:00pm to 6:00pm. It will be held at the future site of the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Kroc Center, 4646 Cane Run Road.
“Now and then, we need to say thank you and recognize hard working and dedicated people who are making Metro Louisville a great community,” says Green. “This will be a great opportunity for the community to preview plans for the future community center. Becky Peake, Executive Director of the Kroc Center is partnering with us for the festival and will be able to answer all questions about the project.”
Green says the location will serve as the perfect backdrop for honoring 20 individuals and groups for their commitment, dedication and hard work in District 1.
“Government can not answer all problems,” says Green. “Sometimes the best partners in problem solving come from with in the community and I want these folks to know how much they are appreciated.”
The Community Festival will feature free food, free drinks, free popcorn and free ice cream. There will be children’s activities including inflatables, face painting and music. Lake Dreamland’s Fire Department will be on hand to take pictures of every child on a fire truck free of charge.
Back packs and other back to school supplies will be given out by the Farnsley Middle School, Neighborhood Place, the Salvation Army and Councilwoman Green.
The festival will also feature many community groups including:
