Louisville – It less than two weeks many children in Jefferson County will be heading back to school. BRAG and Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D) 9 plan to help some student get ready for a new year.

On Thursday August 3rd, BRAG will be handing out back to school kits for the first 500 kids that show up at McDonalds’s at 2314 Brownsboro Road.

“I encourage all residents of the Brownsboro Road area to come out and have some fun while we help some kids get ready for back to school,” said Ward-Pugh.

BRAG stands for Brownsboro Road Area Giving. The group is made up of various businesses in the area who have joined together to raise money for deserving projects.

The event will be held from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. Ten per cent of all sales from this event will benefit United Crescent Hill Ministries. BRAG has already raised $1,000 for the program.

Aside from the school kit give away, there will be music as well as a custom car display. The ATV Police Patrol will also be on hand along with the Talking Police car for children.

BRAG has an event on the first Thursday of every month.

“This group has gotten off to a very good start in helping the community,” said Ward-Pugh. “But we are always looking for others to come join and help us out.”

Taste of Jamaica, B.J’s Consignment, Thai Taste, Salon Mira, D.J’s Barber Shop and Shiraz Mediterranean Grill are just some of the members of BRAG.
