Public Health and Wellness Offers Free Diabetes Classes

The Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness will hold two classes for those with diabetes and for those who care for family members with diabetes.
Diabetes Basics will be held on Tuesday August 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Family Health Center Portland at 2215 Portland Ave. Diabetes Basics includes information about diabetes, how to manage high and low blood sugars, diabetes nutrition and information about medications.
Nutrition Basics will be held Tuesday August 30 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Family Health Center Portland at 2215 Portland Ave. Nutrition Basics includes information on healthy eating, carbohydrate counting, meal planning and sugars and sugar substitutes. Diabetic friendly recipes are also included.
The classes will be held in Spanish and in English. Classes are free. Phone 574-6663 to register.
