Councilwoman Hamilton invites residents to fight crime with National Night Out events

Louisville – August 1st is an important date for many neighborhoods across America. It’s National Night Out and a time to fight crime and make neighborhoods safe.

“Many of our neighborhoods are rising to the occasion,” said Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D) 5. “This is a chance for all of us to join police and learn what we can do to help them help us.”

Hamilton has joined other Council members in sponsoring National Night Out events for the First and Second Divisions of Louisville Metro Police.

Hamilton will also be handing out anti-theft automobile clubs to residents of District 5They need to bring proof of residence.

The Glendora, Larkwood and Westchester Neighborhood Associations in District 5 will also hold a National Night Out event beginning at 6:00pm at the corner of Larkwood and Glendora. Another will be held in the 4500 block of Westchester.

“Public safety is a number one goal for all of us on the Council,” said Hamilton. “All of us have a chance through these events to keep our families and our neighborhoods safe.”
