In an effort to help keep children safe and parents to better understand the online world of the 21st Century, Councilwoman Judith Green (D) 1 is encouraging everyone to come out to an internet safety seminar on Wednesday, April 16th.
“In the world of technology, many children have an understanding of computers and the internet but parents may not be aware of those who would do our children harm,” says Green. “This workshop could be the first step to better understand how we can keep our children safe.”
The workshop will be held at the Pleasant View Baptist Church, 2600 Virginia Avenue. It begins at 7:00pm. The Church and Coleridge Taylor Elementary are joining Green in sponsoring the workshop which is set to last about one hour.
The workshop will be presented by ECHO, the Exploited Children’s Help Organization. Established in 1983, ECHO has worked continually to protect children in Kentucky and Indiana from abuse and to address the needs of those who are abused.
“I would encourage all parents to come to this workshop and not be afraid or embarrassed about not knowing what all is out there on the information highway,” says Green. “What you will learn will help you to better protect your children.”
