Family Golf Package to be offered at Metro Parks courses during October

Tuesday September 30, 2008

As a result of interest generated by Kentuckians Kenny Perry and J.B. Holmes in helping Team USA capture the Ryder Cup, Metro Parks is offering an affordable family golfing package at its nine golf courses during October weekends.

For only $20, a family of up to four members can play 9 holes at any Metro Parks course. The $20 includes greens and carts fees, and families can take advantage of the deal after 4 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during October.

“Golfing is an activity the whole family can enjoy, and interest in it locally has never been higher because of the Ryder Cup,” said Marty Storch, assistant director of Metro Parks. “This is an affordable way for seasoned players to hit the links with their children and introduce them to the sport.”

The golf special is available on the weekends of Oct. 3-5; Oct. 10-12; Oct. 17-19; and October 24-26.

Metro Parks golf courses are open from daylight to dark seven days a week, and each course has a fully stocked pro shop. Private lessons are available from a PGA Professional at each clubhouse. Metro Parks operates 9-hole golf courses in Cherokee Park and Crescent Hill Park, along with Waverly Park’s Bobby Nichols Golf Course. There are 18-hole courses in Iroquois Park, Long Run Park, Seneca Park, Shawnee Park, Sun Valley Park and Charlie Vettiner Park. For more information, call (502) 456-8134 or visit
