It is a chance to spend a nice October Sunday afternoon by taking a cruise on the Ohio River with spectacular fall colors courtesy of Councilmen Rick Blackwell (D-12) and Bob Henderson (D-14).

“This is a fun event and a chance to see Southwest Jefferson County from a different vantage point,” says Blackwell. “Riverview Park is fast becoming a great place for the family and we want people to see what improvements have been made to the park.”

The two cruises will get underway on Sunday, October 23rd at 1:30pm and 4:00pm at the Greenwood Boat docks at Riverview Park. The tickets are on a first come, first serve basis.

“Fall is a beautiful time along the Ohio River,” says Henderson. “The Spirit of Jefferson is a fun way to enjoy an afternoon and with Riverview Park everyone will have a great time.”

This is also an opportunity to help an organization that helps the less fortunate in the area. Each person who attends either of the cruises is being asked to bring two items for the Southwest Community Ministries food closet.

“The Ministries are working everyday to help the needy,” says Blackwell. “We are nearing the time of year to be thankful for all we have and these donations will be one way to show how we can help through the spirit of giving.”

For more information about the riverboat cruises, contact Councilman Blackwell’s office at 574-1112 or Councilman Henderson’s office at 574-1114.
