Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D-5) and the Louisville Metro economic Development Department are issuing an invitation to the public to learn more about the West Market Street Corridor Improvement Study at a public meeting on Wednesday, February 18th.
“This is a chance to have input and offer suggested improvements and for the public to see what is being done to improve one of Louisville’s oldest streets,” says Hamilton. “We are at a stage where we need to hear what the public thinks needs to be done for the West Market Street area.”
The meeting will take place at the Shawnee High School Auditorium, 4018 West Market Street, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The public should use the entrance off 41st Street at Herman Avenue.
The boundary area of the study is West market Street from 24th to Cecil Avenue. Consultants for the study are Graham Smith and Partners.
The Consultants will make a presentation of what has been accomplished to date. The public is encouraged to share their ideas and concerns as well as provide feedback on potential improvements to the Corridor.
The study seeks to create a physical environment conducive to business development and news retail opportunities for area residents.
“The people who live and work along the West Market Street area will be vital to the success of any changes in this Corridor,” says Hamilton. “We need to hear from them.” The Corridor Advisory Group is working with consultants to develop recommendations which will be presented to the Councilwoman and Metro Government.
