As members of the Metro Council Budget Committee finish their review of department and agency budgets, there is still another important group to be heard. The public will have a second opportunity to speak before the committee about the budget.
“I would like for anyone who has a concern about funding priorities to let us hear from you,” says Councilman Jim King (D-10) who chairs the Budget Committee. “Our first public hearing saw many nonprofit groups come before the committee. But I want to stress anyone can sign up to talk to our members.”
The Second Public Hearing will take place on Monday, June 14 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in Council chambers, 601 West Jefferson Street. Signups to speak will be from 5:00PM to 6:30 PM, Third Floor City Hall. The Metro Council Clerk’s Office will be present at 5:00 PM to assist.
There will be no phone calls. All signups must be done in person.
“If you do not wish to speak but want to let us know how you feel about the budget or if you have a concern, then you can send the Committee an email,” said King.
Those persons who wish to send an email can go to the Metro Council home page at www.louisvilleky.gov and click on the email council members link.
There will be live web streaming of the hearing that can also be accessed by the Metro Council Home Page and clicking on the “Watch Meetings Online” icon
All hearings will also be broadcast live on Metro TV, Insight Cable Channel 25.
