Louisville – Metro Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13) has been appointed Vice Chair of the Human Development Steering Committee of the National League of Cities.
“I am honored to be appointed to a leadership position on a committee which does such important work on quality of life issues for our cities across the nation,” says Welch.
Developing federal policy positions in the areas of social services, education, employment and workforce development, Social Security and seniors, individuals with disabilities, public health care, mental health, and immigration reform for the NLC is this Committee’s main goal.
Welch has been a member of the HD Steering Committee since 2009.
“Metro Louisville has benefitted in many ways by continuing its work with the NLC,” says Welch. “There are challenging months ahead for our country as Washington is faced with some serious financial questions and choices and it is important that our cities have a strong role in helping the President and Congress make choices for the future.”
