Some 1,100 children are expected to be on hand when the 1st Division Auxiliary of Louisville Metro Police hosts its 34th Annual Christmas Party on Saturday, December 11th. Among those assisting the Auxiliary will be Council Members David Tandy (D-4), Judith Green (D-1) and Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D-5).
“There are so many families in need at this time of year and the Auxiliary does a wonderful job of helping those children who need the community’s help,” says Hamilton. “I always look forward to bringing some holiday cheer to these children.”
The 1st Division Auxiliary Party will be held at the Portland Boys and Girls Club, 2509 Portland Avenue. The Party Begins at 12:00pm.
“I am looking forward to seeing some smiling faces on Saturday,” says Tandy. “This event just goes to show how Metro Louisville is a caring community.”
Council members donated financial help for the party through their Neighborhood Development funds. They joined other private donors in funding a party that first began with eight children thirty four years ago.
Each of the children will receive a holiday package that includes: a toy, fruit, chips, candy, a soft drink, and a bag with gloves, socks and a toboggan. The children will also have a chance to talk and take a photo with the Jolly Old Elf from the North Pole, Santa Claus.
“This is the season of giving and we should all thank the 1st Division Auxiliary for its continued commitment to the holiday spirit,” says Green.
