Public Health and Wellness Offers Free Diabetes Classes

The Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness will hold a series of four free classes for individuals interested in learning about and managing diabetes. Classes begin Thursday, February 2 at the Catholic Enrichment Center at 3146 W. Broadway.
Classes are free and attendance at the entire series of four classes is encouraged. All classes begin at 2:00 p.m. and end at 4:30 p.m. Phone 574-6663 for reservations or for more information. Class size is limited so please call to make a reservation. The class schedule is as follows:
February 2, Class 1, What is Diabetes? Monitoring, Nutrition Basics – What is a carbohydrate?
February 9, Class 2, Dealing with sick days and acute complications, Medications, Carbohydrate counting – putting it into practice.
February 16, Class 3, Staying healthy and taking care of yourself, Carbohydrate counting, fats, sodium and label reading.
February 23, Class 4, Taking care of your feet, Weight loss and maintenance, Exercise, Healthy coping.
