Mayor Urges Businesses to Consider Later Start Times Wednesday Morning
Tuesday January 27, 2009
Based on the latest forecasts from the National Weather Service, Mayor Jerry Abramson urged Louisville businesses to consider delaying their normal start times Wednesday morning.
The opening of Louisville Metro Government offices will be delayed until 10 a.m. for all non-essential personnel.
Abramson urges employees to follow their company procedures for reporting to work in bad weather and to listen to local media outlets for information on closings and delays.
The National Weather Service expects heavy snow to begin falling in Louisville around 5:30 a.m. and continue at a heavy rate for several hours. The snow, on top of the expected icy conditions overnight, will make early morning commutes potentially treacherous, Abramson said.
Louisville Metro road crews are working throughout the night continuing to treat roads, said Public Works Director Ted Pullen. The morning shift will be called in early to begin plowing snow off the roads as it accumulates.
