In an effort to combat a recent rash of thefts in the Beechmont and Iroquois area, Metro Councilman Dan Johnson (D-21) is providing fund to three Louisville Metro Police divisions for increased patrols in those areas
“We have found that extra funding is needed to allow officers to get a handle on problem areas when crime increases from time to time,” said Johnson. “This funding will allow more officers overtime to patrol some areas where we have seen a recent increase of thefts and break-ins.”
Johnson is providing $10,000 in Neighborhood Development Funds for LMPD overtime. The money will be divided between three different Police Divisions that operate in District 21; $5000 to 4th District, $3000 to 3rd District, and $2000 to 6th District.
“I am also concerned about a recent home invasion that occurred in the Preston Park neighborhood,” said Johnson. “I want the residents of the district to realize, we make these kinds of funding allocations as part of our commitment to public safety.”
The Councilman meets regularly with the Commanders of each Division to see if new crime trends develop. He has made previous appropriations to handle issues such as speeding and other crimes over the last seven years.
