Louisville – Councilwoman Attica Scott (D-1) is sponsoring an effort to give seasonal workers more access to transportation if they work at the Riverport area during this holiday period.
“It is my honor to introduce legislation appropriating $8,320 to the Transit Authority of River City (TARC) to extend bus services to the Riverport for seasonal jobs at Café Press, Hannah Anderson and other companies in the area,” says Scott.
District 1 Neighborhood Development Funds will sponsor an extension of service for TARC’s #19 bus which runs from downtown and then on to Cane Run Road and the Riverport area.
“TARC is thankful for the opportunity to work with Councilwoman Scott and bring additional transportation service to Riverport,” TARC Executive Director J. Barry Barker said. “We’re pleased to provide a reliable option for people to get to work during the holiday season.”
A new morning trip will depart Chestnut and Liberty at 4:56am, arriving at the Cane Run and Riverport stop which serves Café Press at 5:45am. A new trip will also depart this TARC stop at 6:15 pm and arrive at Chestnut and Liberty at 7:07 pm.
The service will begin on Friday, November 29th and then end on Tuesday, December 24th.
“By extending this public transportation service we will be providing at least 160-200 people in west Louisville with the opportunity to access jobs in the Riverport – jobs that otherwise would be unattainable to this workforce,” says Scott.
The funding will be reviewed and approved by the Metro Council’s Appropriation’s and then forwarded to the Metro Council for final approval.
