Family golfing package offered during October weekends

Tuesday September 22, 2009

The dog days of summer are long past, but Metro Parks is heating up this fall by offering an affordable family golfing package at its nine golf courses during October weekends.

For only $20, a family of up to four members can play 9 holes at any Metro Parks course. The $20 includes greens and carts fees, and families can take advantage of the deal after 4 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during October.

“We offered this promotion on weekends in October last fall and it was a huge success,” said Marty Storch, assistant director of Metro Parks. “This year, there’s an extra weekend in October, which is good news for parents looking to introduce their children to the game of golf.”

The golf special is available on the weekends of Oct. 2-4; Oct. 9-11; Oct. 16-18; October 23-25 and Oct. 30-31.

Metro Parks golf courses are open from daylight to dark seven days a week, and each course has a fully stocked pro shop. Private lessons are available from a PGA Professional at each clubhouse. Metro Parks operates 9-hole golf courses in Cherokee Park and Crescent Hill Park, along with Waverly Park’s Bobby Nichols Golf Course. There are 18-hole courses in Iroquois Park, Long Run Park, Seneca Park, Shawnee Park, Sun Valley Park and Charlie Vettiner Park. For more information, call (502) 456-8134 or visit
