Louisville – Metro Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D) 2 will host a meeting between Metro Police and residents of the Newburg and Norfolk Communities as a result of an incident this past weekend at Robben’s Roller Rink on Six Mile Lane.
“I want to get everyone together to get a better understanding of what happened at the rink,” said Shanklin. “This will be a chance to hear all sides.
Reports have indicated there were problems at the rink on Saturday night between security officers and young people. Many have alleged that Metro Police were called and pepper spray was used to disperse the crowd.
The meeting will be held at the Newburg Community Center at 4810 Exeter Avenue beginning at 6:00pm. Shanklin has invited Major J.T. Smith of Louisville Metro Police to address concerned parents. A group of local ministers who work with the Councilwoman in a resource network will also be on hand for the meeting.
“I want to learn more about this, and I want to hear from all side before decided what action if any is needed,” said Shanklin.
