“Movies under the Stars” concludes its 2010 season with a romantic comedy based on the songs of the hit rock group ABBA. “Momma Mia!” with Meryl Strep, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth will help finish up a successful season of free movies at returns to the Iroquois Amphitheatre on Saturday, September 11th.

“This has been a very good year for our free movies and we have received great feedback from the public,” says Councilwoman Marianne Butler (D-15). “Our finial film is a fun one for those who enjoy music and film.”

The movie begins at 9:00pm. The Metro Council began “Movies under the Stars” as a free event for the public to come out and enjoy Iroquois Park during the summer.

Butler along with Council Members Rick Blackwell (D-12), Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13), Bob Henderson (D-14) Dan Johnson (D-21), Jim King (D-10), Mary C. Woolridge (D-3), Doug Hawkins (R-25), Jon Ackerson (R-18) and Brent Ackerson (D-26) provided the funding for this year’s program.

“Many people have spent the summer rediscovering Iroquois Park. It is a great place for families and fun;” said Butler.

While the movies are free, concessions will be available.

For more information, contact the Iroquois Amphitheatre at 502-368-5865. The Iroquois Amphitheatre is located at 1080 Amphitheatre Road in Iroquois Park.
