Contact: Tony Hyatt 574-4137/526-3622
Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton will host a Community Meeting on Thursday, August 20th to help residents in District 5 with cleanup operations following recent flooding.
“I have asked representatives MSD, Metro Public Health and Wellness, Metro Housing and Family Services, including representatives of the Community Action Program and other agencies to be on hand to answer questions about the best way to clean up homes and businesses,” says Hamilton. “I know from our curbside pickup operation that the damage was devastating for many people and this is a chance to ask questions on what to do next and talk with the agencies about available resources..”
The meeting will take place from 6:30pm to 8:00pm in the small auditorium of Shawnee High School, 4018 West Market Street.
Other agencies such as Solid Waste Management, Metro Housing and the Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Protection have been asked to come to the meeting,
“It is naturally a frustrating experience to deal with the initial assessment of damages from flooding,” says Hamilton. “Many homeowners though may not be aware of services that are available to get things back to normal. This is a chance to learn more about those services and how to properly clean up after this kind of disaster.”
