For Immediate release:
Hundreds are expected on Saturday, March 31st for the Second annual King Memorial Walk & Peace Fest 2007. It is a walk to honor of the work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his wife, Coretta Scott King.
“I am honored and privileged to be a Grand Marshal for this event,” says Councilman David Tandy (4). “The King Memorial Walk provides an opportunity for the people of Metro Louisville to reflect on the life of Dr. King and work toward making his dream of a better community a reality.”
Tandy will be joined Saturday by the Walk’s other Grand Marshall, Congressman John Yarmuth D-KY.
The event is a fund raiser for service projects around the Metro Louisville Area. It begins at 9:00 am and ends at 3:00pm on Saturday. Many teams will be raising money for Service for Peace. The event begins at the Ali Center and ends on the Belvedere
“Dr. King’s message of peace, justice and compassion for all is something that should not be limited to one day in January,” says Tandy. “It should be celebrated 365 days a year.”
