Louisville – Metro Councilwoman Vicki Welch (D) 13 is saying “thank you” to all of the groups that helped in the recent District 13 Health Fair.
“We had an unbelievable turnout and it is good to see that many people are taking an active interest in better health,” says Welch.
The Health Fair was held on January 31st at St. Jerome Church on Fairdale Road.
Breast Cancer Screening was one of many services provided during the Fair. The screenings were coordinated by the Metro Louisville Health Department and the Kentucky Cancer Program. Mammograms were performed by the U of L Hospital and the James Graham Brown Cancer Center.
“Every year the Fair has been underway, we have seen an increase in women who have taken steps to prevent this disease,” says Welch. “This shows us how beneficial these health fairs have been.”
Norton Health Care provided blood pressure checks and body fat analysis. The Fairdale Lions Club conducted sight checks for adults and children.
The American Red Cross also provided information about disaster preparation.
“I want to again thank those health groups that participated and I want the residents of District 13 to know we will continue this important service to the area next year,” said Welch.
