Southeast Kentucky Chamber Endorses Local Option

Chamber joins growing list of supporters

The Southeast Kentucky Chamber of Commerce — representing eight counties in the Commonwealth — has voted to endorse local option, which would give citizens the right to vote on investing in the projects important to their communities.

"From our point of view in Southeast Kentucky, the local option is a critical and potentially transformational economic development tool," said Jared Arnett, the chamber’s President and CEO. "As we compete for jobs and investment, we must have new ways to make community improvements and develop infrastructure. The local option is the most appealing of any option because it puts the decision-making in the hands of the people.”

The Southeast Chamber serves Floyd, Johnson, Knott, Lawrence, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin and Pike counties. It’s the latest in a growing list of economic development groups to endorse local option. The others are:
