a Free Nutritional Workshop, an Educational Baby Shower and Other Events In October

Two Celebrations Planned for 20th Year Anniversary of Neighborhood Place

Neighborhood Place locations across Jefferson County are proud to help offer several valuable services and events in October including a six-week nutritional workshop, an educational baby shower, and two celebrations in honor of the 20th anniversary of Neighborhood Place. Oct. 2, Free Blood Pressure Screenings at Cane Run Neighborhood Place, 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Located at 3410 Lees Ln. Call 485-6810 for more information. Keep your blood pressure in check with a free blood pressure screening provided by the trained staff at Norton Healthcare.

Oct. 3 - Nov. 14, "Find Your Balance" nutritional workshop at First Neighborhood Place, Thursdays between 1 - 2:30 p.m.
Located at 1503 Rangeland Rd. Call 962-3160 for more information. This six week course offers cooking tips, recipes and meal ideas to help with planning a healthy lifestyle. Brought to you by U.K. Cooperative Extension Services and First Neighborhood Place.

Oct. 4, “Open House” at First Neighborhood Place celebrating 20 years of service, 2-4 p.m.
Located at 1503 Rangeland Road. Call 962-3160 for more information. Twenty years ago in November, First Neighborhood Place opened as the first site to serve as a pilot, multi-service, Neighborhood Place center. Join past and present staff, Community Council members, and members of the community - including residents, businesses, partner agencies and faith-based partners -- for this celebration. Light refreshments will be offered along with tours at 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. and a door prize drawing at 4 p.m.

Oct. 17, A Healthy Journey for Two Educational Baby Shower at Farnsley Middle School, 3 -5p.m.
Located 3400 Lees Ln. Call 439-4591 (or to RSVP and for more information. Seven Counties and KIDSNow will be hosting this educational baby shower to share information on how to care for yourself and your baby while being pregnant. Participants will receive a baby tote bag filled with goodies and a gas/gift card. Co-sponsored by Cane Run Neighborhood Place.

Oct. 17, CHAMPS Data Daze at Farnsley Middle School, 4 - 7:30 p.m.
Located 3400 Lees Ln. For more information, please call Healthy Start at 485-7230. This Data Daze session is a 3-month update survey for all youth who participated in the CHAMPS! Camp (teen pregnancy prevention study) at Farnsley Middle School in July. Co-Sponsored by Cane Run Neighborhood Place.

Oct. 25, "Neighborhood Place Goes Platinum" and 2013 Annual Day Conference, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Located at the Marriott Louisville East Hotel, 1903 Embassy Square Blvd. For reservation information, call Michele Bright at 574-4516. Past and present leaders of Neighborhood Place gather to celebrate 20 years of excellence with staff from all eight Neighborhood Place locations. In addition, the Annual Day Conference provides the Neighborhood service providers and staff members from partnering agencies a day full of workshops, networking and skill-building opportunities.
