Councilman Rick Blackwell (D) 12 is encouraging everyone to take part in the 1st Annual Harbor House Health Fair on Wednesday, January 30th at the Incarnation Parish Center, 2229 Lower Hunters Trace.

“This is a unique health fair in that we are offering not only health screenings for individuals, but a chance to help those in need with a blood drive,” says Blackwell. “It is also a chance to learn more about an organization that does great work in our community.”

Harbor House of Louisville is a center dedicated to the highest quality care for developmentally disabled adults. The Health Fair is one of many programs offered in the area.

The American Red Cross will conduct the blood drive and explain to potential donors the critical need for blood in the community all year round. Officials will be able to answer questions about donating blood.

Screenings for vision, hearing, glucose and blood pressure will also be available.

Blackwell’s office will also provide a limited number of pedometers on a first come first serve basis in an effort to encourage people to get out and do more walking.

“We are also providing fire safety information for those who want to keep their homes and families safe during the cold months of January and February and more people use fireplaces and heaters,” says Blackwell.

The Harbor House Health fair will get underway from 10:00 am to 2:00pm.

For more information on the Health Fair, call Councilman Blackwell’s Office at 574-1112. To learn more about Harbor House and its programs go to: www.hhlou.org
