Metro Council President Rick Blackwell will host his 2nd Annual Back to School Pool Party on Friday, August 24th from 6-8pm at the Southwest YMCA, 2800 Fordhaven Road. The event is free and will feature swimming, pizza and inflatables.
“We hope this event will help students, and parents, kick off the school year on a positive note,” says Blackwell.
Guests are asked to adhere to the YMCA’s swim wear and safety rules. These include family appropriate swimwear, a minimum of one adult per child in the pool for 6 and under, and one adult in the pool area for 7 and over. Cut off shorts are not allowed in the pool, however a white t-shirt may be worn over swimwear. This is a family event and an adult must stay with the children, no drop offs are allowed. Children over 7 who wish to swim in the deep end of the pool will be required to take a swim safety test.
“As a teacher, I know how important it is to keep kids excited about school. Through programs like this, as well as the Blackwell’s Bookworms program, I hope to add to the excitement of learning and keep the promise of a bright future for District 12 students,” says Blackwell.
