Louisville – Councilwoman Attica Scott is partnering with Metro Corrections and Solid Waste Management for “Clean it Up!” a new program designed to clear out trash in alleys throughout District 1.
“We have targeted 12 different alleys in Southwest and West Louisville during the month of July to clear out trash from illegal dumping,” says Scott. “I want to keep the focus on cleaning up our neighborhoods as a way of restoring pride and building unity in our community.”
Beginning on Tuesday, July 3rd, work release crews from Metro Corrections will begin cleaning up the alley in the 1000 block of Kentucky Street and Greenwood Avenue at 9:00am. This alley is in the same area were violence broke out on May 17th.
As the work release crews clean up the alleys, Solid Waste Management trucks will be in the area to haul away all trash.
“We have had such good, positive feedback from our Cut it Out! Program that this is the next logical step in reclaiming and rebuilding our rneighborhoods,” says Scott. “I recently purchased five cameras for the district to catch illegal dumpers as part of the Metro Council’s effort to crack down on illegal dumping. This new program will clean up some of our worst alleys and we intend to keep those alleys clean.”
