The first few weeks of a new school year can be rather hectic for children and their parents and sometimes it never hurts to take a break and have a little fun. So Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh (D-9) is providing the chance for the fun.
The 11th Annual Back to School Block Party is set to get underway on Friday, September 10th from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center, 201 Reservoir Avenue.
“We always have a good turnout for our block party which leads me to believe this is a good way for kids and parents to end the summer.” says Ward-Pugh.
The Block Party offers free swimming and other family fun. There are also refreshments with FREE pizza and cookies.
Parents will also have a chance to get a FREE child ID kit made by Louisville Metro Police (LMPD). LMPD officers of the Fifth Division have been partnering with the Councilwoman for many years at the block party.
“I feel it is important for children to get to know that police officers are people who can help them and not someone they should be afraid of,” says Ward-Pugh. “We also provide information for parents about child safety during this event.”
