Louisville – During the holiday season, the distinctive ringing of a bell on the street corner means the Salvation Army needs your help to help those in need. Two Metro Councilmembers will join other volunteers in December to help the Salvation Army reach their goal.
“If there is any organization that deserves our time, effort and resources during this time of year, it is the Salvation Army,” says Councilman David James (D-6). “We all need to help them reach their goal.”
James and Councilwoman Marianne Butler (D-1) will volunteer for the Army’s Red Kettle Drive on Wednesday, December 19th when they meet and greet the public while ringing the bell for the holidays.
“We are very fortunate as a city. I have always been amazed at the giving spirit of our community, in this case total strangers helping others,” says Butler.
The Council members will ring the bell at the Kroger on Central and 3rd Street in the afternoon from 3:00 pm to 5:00pm on the 19th.
