Louisville – Councilwoman Attica Scott announces the 2nd Annual “Cleanup for Christmas” will begin on Friday, December 14th with a focus of cleaning up abandoned properties in the southwestern part of District 1.

“We were successful last year with my goal to follow up on community concerns about abandoned properties and cleaning up the appearance many of these vacant lots leave in a neighborhood,” says Scott. “This holiday, we are focusing attention in a new area of the district.”

On Friday, December 14th beginning at 8:30am cleanup crews from IPL will begin at 4505 Riverfront Drive, off of Campground Road and Old Campground Road in the Lake Dreamland area.

The Councilwoman is using $5,000 from her Neighborhood Development Funds for the cleanup effort to cover the cost of overtime for three crews to clean up 20 plus properties on the District 1 referral list. The list tracks properties where the most abandoned properties are located with regard to complaints about high grass and weeds.

“Abandoned properties are still a top priority for my office and we have found this effort helps set a great mood of community pride especially as we approach the holiday season,” says Scott.

For more information about the effort, contact Councilwoman Scott’s office at 574-1101.
