The Park DuValle at Newburg Primary Care Center will hold a very special back to school and Community Health Fair this Saturday, August 6th as a way of introducing the community to its newly expanded facility on Hikes Lane.

“We are at that time of year where school is almost here,“ says Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2). “Park DuValle is offering a great service to parents and the community.”

The Community Health Fair is free and open to the public. It will offer free screenings for blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose as well as health education (nutrition, hypertension, diabetes) and guided tours of the PDCHC-Newburg facility.

“The Back-to-School Health Fair is not just for parents and their school age children. Everyone in the community is encouraged to attend, and take an opportunity to check their blood pressure or blood sugar level or other important health idicators” Says Councilman Kevin Kramer (R-11).

Park DuValle is partnering with GE Appliance & Lighting for the Health Fair. The Center is also receiving support from the GE Foundation’s Developing Health Initiative.

“I applaud this partnership because it shows how the community and the private sector are working together for the children of the Newburg and Buechel area,” says Metro Council President Jim King (D-10)

“It is my hope that everyone will come out and learn more about the Newburg Primary Care Center,” says Councilman Tom Owen (D-8). “The Center’s goal is to find families who are underserved by health care in our area.”

The Park DuValle at Newburg Primary Care Center is located at 2237 Hikes Lane. The Health Fair will be from 10:00am to 2:00pm. There will also be fun activities for children including face painting, music and give-aways.
