Several members of the Louisville Metro Council are partnering once again this year with PRIDE Inc and the New Jerusalem Church to host the Annual Seniors Thanksgiving Day Dinner on Thursday, November 24th.

“This event is a reminder for all of us to be thankful for our families, loved ones, and good fortune over the course of the year,” says Councilman David James (D-6). “This special event demonstrates how our community reaches out to those who need family at holiday time.”

The dinner will take place at the Presbyterian Community Center, 701 South Hancock Street from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. It is free to persons age of 50 and over.

“Thanksgiving is also a time of coming together as family and for many in our community it could be a time of loneliness,” says Councilman David Tandy (D-4). “This dinner shows how we are all family in one community.”

Council members Tandy, Barbara Shanklin (D-2), Mary C. Woolridge (D-3), Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D-5), and Dan Johnson (D-21) have funded this event every year since 2003. Council members James and Attica Scott (D-1) are joining the sponsorship this year.

“I will be bringing some members of my family to help out with serving because I want them to see how volunteering and giving back to the community brings a special meaning to this season,” says Shanklin. “We have many volunteers for this event who deserve our thanks.”

The Annual Thanksgiving Dinner will also feature entertainment and door prizes for those seniors who participate.
