Mayor Unveils Events Calendar and Resource Guide for Event Planners
Thursday March 1, 2007
Mayor Jerry Abramson today unveiled the 2007 MetroFest Event calendar that features more than 200 festivals and events across Louisville throughout the year. In addition, two free resource guides are now available to assist local event planners and producers and community groups.
“We are excited to announce that Louisville has more exciting cultural attractions, special events and festivals than ever before,” Abramson said. “No city knows how to celebrate like Louisville, Kentucky. Our festivals and events are part of what makes Louisville such a vibrant and exciting place to call home.”
The 2007 MetroFest Calendar is sponsored in part by Thorntons, Inc., and will be available free at 35 Thorntons Quick Café & Market stores in Louisville starting March 12. The calendar also will be distributed as an insert in the March issue of Louisville Magazine, and at libraries, community centers, the zoo, the downtown visitors center, local hotels and several events during the year.
“At Thorntons, we believe it is important to give back to the communities in which we serve,” said Graham Baughman, Thorntons president and chief operating officer. “We are very excited about our partnership with the City of Louisville and the new 2007 Metrofest Calendar.”
The city also has expanded its resource guides that are published to assist local community groups and event planners. Both are available free of charge:
- Mayor’s Special Events Handbook – a resource guide with information on city government’s event services and permitting procedures for street closures, food permits, alcohol sales and more.
- Louisville Event Resource Guide – new this year, a directory listing of hundreds of event producers, vendors and suppliers, including caterers, venues, entertainers, sign shops, security companies and more. To be listed or to advertise in next year’s guide, contact MetroCall 311 or 574-5000 or contact us.
To request a copy of the MetroFest Calendar, event handbook or resource guide, contact MetroCall 311 or 574-5000. The city’s division of Inspections, Permits and Licenses also will make the guides available to anyone who submits event permits with Metro Government.
The MetroFest events also are featured online at: www.LouisvilleKy.gov/CommunityRelations, and the resource guide and event handbook will be posted April 1.
