Louisville – In the spirit of giving back to the community, Councilwoman Tina Ward-Pugh has scheduled two events to coincide with Mayor Greg Fischer’s “Week of Service” for residents of District 9 who might want to volunteer and help others.
“There are times when a community shows its caring and character by extending a helping hand which make neighborhoods strong as a result of building community,” says Ward-Pugh. “While I am sure there are many who plan to participate in the Mayor’s Week of Service, we have a few opportunities for them to lend a helping hand.”
Volunteer s are invited to join us at the following events during the week of April 14th through the 21st.
- On Saturday, April 14th, the 14th Annual Spring Community Clean-up. The pocket park at the intersection of Brownsboro Road and Story Avenue in the Butchertown Neighborhood will be the scene of a cleanup and trimming event by volunteers. It will begin at 8:30 a.m. and last until 12:00pm. T-shirts, gloves, bags, coffee and breakfast will be provided.
Then on Saturday, April 21st volunteers will assist the League of Women Voters by offering help around their office at 115 S Ewing from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 pm. Volunteers will be engaged in general repairs, painting, cleaning, organizing, trimming bushes, etc.
“I hope everyone will join with us to demonstrate our compassion as a city,” says Ward-Pugh. “We hope you can join us but if not, there are many other worthwhile opportunities for you to events that could use your time, effort and generosity.”
