Louisville, KY – The Louisville Metro Council’s Contracts and Appointments Committee has formed a Cable Sub-committee to focus on key topics including customer service, the cable franchise agreement structure, and pertinent federal and state legislation affecting local cable agreements.  More importantly, Metro Louisville needs to be in the forefront of continuing developments in the cable and telecommunications industries.

Councilman Ken Fleming (District 7), Chairman of the Contracts/Appointments Committee, formed the sub-committee after hearing from Metro residents regarding customer service related issues, observing recent state and federal legislation, and reviewing the cable franchise agreement.  “I am concerned about the recent developments that could have a negative impact on all residents in Louisville,” said Fleming.  “The Metro Council has a duty to safeguard the telecommunications interests of our citizens, and we intend to make sure that the best services available are provided to our residents in a fair and affordable manner.”

Representatives of Insight Communications will be present to address the sub-committee and answer questions at the meeting on Wednesday, July 26 at 2 p.m. in the 3rd Floor Conference Room of City Hall, 601 West Jefferson Street.  Members include Councilmen Fleming (District 7), Leonard Watkins (District 1), Stuart Benson (District 20) and David Tandy (District 4).
